Last year, the Guardian's Guide placed Surrey at 12th and in 2011 it was 19th position in the table.</span><span style="font-weight: normal;"><br /></span><span style="font-weight: normal;">Leicester is rated 13th out of 119 institutions, a rise of six places on last year's position. It is the top-ranked University in the East Midlands, and one of only two from the region to appear in the top 20.</span><span style="font-weight: normal;"><br /></span><span style="font-weight: normal;">Heriot-Watt University moved up two places from 20th to 18th this year, and is now rated as the 2nd best university in Scotland, ahead of the University of Edinburgh (ranked 19th nationally).</span><span style="font-weight: normal;"><br /></span><span style="font-weight: normal;">The University of Kent is now in the top 20 of UK universities, according to the Guardian University Guide 2014, a rise of two places from last year's position. Only four public schools placed higher than McCombs: Berkeley (7th), Virginia (12th) and UCLA and Michigan (both tied at 14th).<br /> <br /> The University of Notre Dame MBA program was ranked 27th in the nation. It is the second consecutive year that the campus has ranked in the top five.<br /> <br /> The University of Victoria (Canada) was placed 1st in Canada for the second consecutive year, 5th in North America and 20th worldwide in the Times Higher Education's 100-under-50 rankings.<br /> <br /> The University of Calgary has again been named one of the best young universities in Canada. It was ranked 2nd in Canada and 23rd in the world among universities under 50 years of age. It was placed 11th among public schools and 19th overall, and 5 of its departments were rated in the top 25 in their categories.<br /> <br /> UC Santa Barbara's College of Engineering was ranked No. 20, moving up one spot from the 2013 rankings. Tied with Northwestern University, it is No. 11 among public universities. U-M's rankings in law specialties include: clinical training (6th) and international law (9th).<br /> <br /> The University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law moved up six spots and ranked 41st among 194 ABA-accredited U.S. law schools, according to data compiled by U.S. News & World Report (2014). The College's student-to-faculty ratio places it at 6th among ABA-accredited schools.<br /> <br /> UC Hastings remained among the top 50 law schools, tied with several others at 48th. UC Hastings programs also ranked in the top tier of "Law Specialties", including Dispute Resolution at 9th, Tax Law at 17th, and Clinical Training at 27th.<br /> <br /> The University of Arkansas School of Law was ranked in the top tier of law schools for the fifth consecutive year.
